Sergeant Robert Hernandez is an 18-year law enforcement veteran and oversees both digital forensic and cyber investigations for a multi-agency task force headquartered at the Beverly Hills Police Department. This unit is uniquely partnered with the U.S. Secret Service’s Electronic Crimes Task Force as well as several municipal law enforcement agencies representing the West Los Angeles area. Sergeant Hernandez holds certifications in advanced digital forensics (computer and mobile) issued by the California Department of Justice. He additionally holds an EnCe certification. He has testified as an expert witness in both state and federal courts in the areas of computer and mobile forensics. His investigative background spans nearly 12 years in the areas of financial crimes, arsons, violent crimes, cold case homicides, and cyber-crimes. He has investigated numerous cases involving ransomware attacks, DOS incidents, SWATTing events, network intrusions, and various other types of cybercrimes.
He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Aerospace Engineering from UCLA and a pendent Master’s in Public Administration degree from CSUDH (2016). He previously served nearly a decade in the U.S. Marine Corps initially as an artillery officer and then as a naval aviator attaining the rank of Major.
